Below are the different classes we offer. To make these as useful as possible, these classes are BYOBike (Bring-Your-Own-Bike). The upcoming BYOBike Spring Tune-Up, and BYOBike 201 classes are enrolled, but we’ll be offering more classes soon.

Vintage-Bicycle-Mechanics Class

In this class you'll learn everything you need to know to get your vintage bike riding its best, including adjusting rim brakes and derailleurs, replacing cables and housing, overhauling cup and cone bearings, and patching tubes. This class is the best way to fully overhaul a vintage bike (feel free to email us with any suitability questions). You are also welcome to take the class using one of our bikes. $135 for six, 3 hour sessions.

BYOBike Spring Tune-up

Learn the basic essentials to get your bike ready for spring riding with this single session class. We’ll cover removing wheels, fixing flats, lubricating chains, and identifying common problems. You’ll learn what to look for when assessing the safety and functionality of your bike, and we’ll help you make minor adjustments to shifting, brakes, etc. You may be referred to Open Shop for more time consuming or complex repairs. Consumable items like cables and brake pads will be available for sale and installation. $30 for one, 3 hour session

Class meets at 100 W 22nd St. from 6-9pm on April 29. Enrolled

BYOBike 201

More interested in the nitty-gritty of how the bike works and doing more repairs on your own? This three session class is more in depth than the Tune-up class, and we’ll show you how to set up and adjust the brakes and drivetrain, and true wheels. During each topic, we’ll include the replacement of associated consumables, like cables, brake pads, and chains. BYOBike 101 or similar prior knowledge is recommended, but not required. You should feel comfortable removing and installing the wheels on your bike. $75 for three, 3 hour sessions

CLass meets at 100 W 22nd St. from 6-9pm on the following dates: May 6,13, 20. Enrolled
