Our mission: Velocipede Bike Project provides second-hand bicycles and hands-on education in a shared workspace. We serve Baltimore by empowering people of all backgrounds to take their transportation into their own hands.
Please also visit the Velocipede Bike Project Facebook page for more information and announcements.
We plan to open a new space at 100 W. 22nd St before the end of spring 2016, and to close the decade-old Lanvale Street shop by the end of August 2016. The new space will host a revamped set of programs including an Open Shop night, drop-in classes, enrolled classes like the Rebuild-a-Bike series, and some limited sales activity. We are in the process of planning and building out the new space. During this transitional phase, our Lanvale Street shop will continue to accept donations and rebuild bicycles for sale to the public, but we do not have the staff to run Open Shop or let patrons dig for parts in our bins.
If you would like to help with our move, our new build-out, or volunteer in a specific way, we do very much appreciate it. Please contact our move coordinator by emailing "themove" at velocipedebikeproject.org.
Thank you, and please "pardon our dust" while we unwind the ten years and thousands of bikes which have passed through the doors.
Velocipede still has several refurbished used bicycles for sale at our 4 W. Lanvale St. shop, which is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-9PM. All proceeds from sales go directly to supporting our low-cost public workshops, classes, and recycle/reuse inititives. We accept cash or major credit cards.
