Collective Meeting Minutes - December 7th, 2009
December 10, 2009
Velocipede Bike Project
General Meeting
December 7th, 2009 7:00PM
Present:
Boson Au, Lars Peterson, Gordon Stein (visitor), Anton Schaller, Peter Hegel, Dileep Monie, Noah Bers, Tim Barnett, Ben Glass-Siegal, Eric Voboril, Anna Ricklin, Ben Scully, Doug Barcleft (late)
Roles:
Timekeeper: Ben Glass-Siegal
Facilitator: Tim Barnett
Scribe: Noah Bers
Stack-taker: Anna Ricklin
Committee Reports:
PR:
Budget will be about $200 per quarter. Business card printer has been a little flakky
Shop: [Please let Lars know if we’re out of stuff.]
Budget will be $2000 next quarter, $2500 for next two after that. Hard to say beyond that.
Whose budget covers rent, utilities? Unclear. Executive committee?
Education:
8-9 people per night, some through free school.
Budget: $30 next quarter for printing costs.
Finance:
We filed our 990 with Maryland State.
Tax-exempt card is in the works for VBP purchases. (we will still charge sales tax)
Why is Andrea Claypoole still on our records with the IRS? This is unclear.
Grant Application:
Grant was submitted, Velocipede was in the grant. Difference: We would not be able to create an entirely new position. Instead of two full-time positions, there will be one full time and one part-time position. Grant acceptance timeline is a little tighter than we though; funds would be available in February and not April as we had originally thought.
Fundraiser:
Boson wants to contact potential sponsors this week. There will be no race that same weekend (organizers decided that it will be too cold!) Noah and Barbara will be taking care of cakes. Boson will be drawing up a budget. Probably in the area of $200.
Proposals:
Winter hours:
>>>Consensus, Winter hours until further notice. (Alternate Tuesdays, every Wednesdays and Thursdays 6-, Sundays 2-5) Staff may keep shop open later at their discretion.
Procedure for the donation of parts: go straight to the supply closet in the wooden box, bi-weekly review every other Tuesday night.
>>>Consensus, we will do this.
Discussion:
Attending Meetings = volunteer time.
Peter: Committee meetings, yes. General Meeting, no.
Ben: This would mean less volunteer time for prospective collective members.
>> Move this discussion to another meeting.
Discussion about colored Tags
>>Discuss this another meeting
Safe Space Policy
>> Everyone seems confused by the wording. Back to committee.
The nomination of new officers will be done over the next month– email nominations or your intent to run to Boson Au (at gmail dotcom). Elections will be held during the January meeting.
Next meeting (January 4th) will be held in Doug’s living room. Email Boson Au for directions.
